270 miles

Well, we hit Rhode Island and New Jersey today. That means all we have left are Delaware and DC till we complete the 48! This morning we rode through Providence. What a beautiful city. What great architecture! Burgma noted that we should never tear down old architecture. The architecture is what makes each place so unique. We walked around India Point park before we left RI.

We left Rhode Island entered Conneticut and prepared for our second Ferry ride. I was a bit nervous about this ferry ride since it was going to be a smaller boat than the last.
I was even more nervous when all of the motorbikes pulled on (the three of us two HDs and another V-Strom) and we were the only ones with tie downs. The Harley Guy parked behind me reassured me that he had been on this ferry with his bike "hundreds" of times and never had a problem. When I shared with him that my bike had been knocked over by the wind he instantly went to his saddle bags and looked for a bungi cord. He saw I had my own tie downs had obviously decided I was on my own as he made his way up to the deck. There wasn't anyplace to really tie down your bike. I guess they don't expect you to need/want to tie down your bike. BMWpop, BurgMa, and I all made efforts to tie down our bikes to something. Everyone's bikes, including ours, survived the ferry ride safely.

This ferry ride was short compared to the last ferry ride. It was only an hour and a half. The weather was beautiful, but I think I may have contributed to my current sunburn!

Getting off the ferry we found ourselves in Orient NY (on Long Island). Who knew Long Island was filled with farms? At least I didn't. Every mile or so there were local produce stands selling local beets, peas, strawberries, and flowers... but how could I not mention the vineyards. We passed vineyard after vineyard after vineyard. Vineyard straight ahead, vineyards to the left, vineyards to the right... EVERYWHERE.
Lastly, I know you will be disappointing to hear that in fact we did not see the "Real House Wives of New York" after driving through NYC. I was just as disappointed as you, believe me! There were a lot of limos in NYC as well as NJ but no House Wives to be seen :(

By the by... It is amazing some of the items we have seen on both in and on the side of the road over the past week and a half. Items include: a mattress, a box spring, couch cushions, t-shirts, shoes, and AC pipes. So please let us know if you are in need of any household items, but do keep in mind we are on motorbikes and can only carry the smaller items.

Tomorrow we continue on to Delaware and DC! Also BMWPop has officially turned over 64... 64000 miles that is (He is still a mere 60 age wise)
